3,790 Sleeping Bitcoin Moved This Month, 62% on Weekends

Bitcoin’s dormant supply is showing renewed activity in September. Data from btcparser.com indicates that 3,790 BTC from wallets first created between 2010 and 2017 were transferred for the first time this month.

Notable Transfers

The most significant single move came from a wallet created on July 9, 2016, which transferred 1,260.776 BTC on September 6, accounting for roughly one‑third of the month’s total dormant volume. Over the first half of September, wallets from 2016 contributed 1,450.83 BTC.

Another highlighted transaction involved a wallet opened on September 27, 2013. It moved 113 BTC, valued at about $8.8 million at current prices, marking the first activity from that address since its creation nearly 13 years ago.

Weekend Concentration

Analysis shows that 62% of the dormant Bitcoin movements occurred on Saturdays or Sundays, suggesting a deliberate timing pattern rather than a reaction to immediate market fluctuations.

Potential to Surpass August

August saw 6,427.59 BTC, worth over $500 million, move for the first time. With two weeks remaining in September, the month could still approach or exceed that level if the current trend continues.
