Aave Opens iOS Early Access, Keeps Android and Web Waitlisted

Aave has begun onboarding early users to its mobile savings app on iOS, while Android and web users remain on a waitlist. The rollout is phased, with the app already listed in the Apple App Store.

Early Access Mechanics

Founder Stani Kulechov noted that “Ghost Passes” allow invited friends to bypass the waitlist. The iOS waitlist previously held about 50,000 registrations, with identity checks limited to U.S. users.

Product Features

The app functions as a self‑custodial savings platform. Users can connect bank accounts or debit cards to deposit fiat, and a stablecoin wallet enables deposits and withdrawals on Arbitrum. Deposited assets are supplied to Aave’s lending pools, generating yield from borrower interest.

Current capabilities do not include direct borrowing or user‑directed trading. Stable Vaults support multiple stablecoins and allow one‑to‑one swaps for redemption, but this is part of the savings infrastructure rather than a general trading feature.

Future Roadmap

A July proposal from Aave Labs outlined plans for card fees, asset swaps, and foreign‑exchange products to be introduced in 2026. Those features have not yet been built or cleared for launch.

Access Restrictions

Access is subject to local law, with prohibited jurisdictions including sanctioned and other restricted regions. The early‑access cohort’s specific countries were not disclosed.

Technical Background

The app uses smart accounts to abstract wallet setup and gas management, storing private keys locally on the device. Aave Labs does not retain custody of user assets or keys.

Strategic Context

The launch follows Aave’s October 2025 acquisition of Stable Finance, whose iOS stablecoin‑savings technology now powers the Aave App’s Stable Vaults. Android and web versions remain on the waitlist as of the announcement.
