The choice of the yellow‑themed Simpson family aligns with Binance’s long‑standing use of the colour yellow in its visual identity. Employees said the connection was understood internally, turning the aliases into playful alter egos for the founders.

Background of the founders

CZ and Yi He co‑founded Binance in 2017 after meeting at the Chinese exchange OKCoin, where Yi recruited CZ as chief technology officer in 2014. Their professional partnership also developed into a long‑term romantic relationship, which remained largely private.
