Coinmarketcap Acquires Derivatives Analytics Platform Coinglass

Coinmarketcap announced the acquisition of Coinglass, a crypto derivatives analytics platform used by traders to monitor open interest, funding rates, liquidations, long‑short positioning and options activity. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Scope of the acquisition

Coinglass provides data from 28 exchanges and more than 2,500 instruments. The platform serves over 5 million monthly users and has more than 10,000 API customers. Coinmarketcap reaches roughly 115 million users each month, giving the combined services a broad view of leverage across crypto markets.

Integration plans

Coinmarketcap plans to incorporate Coinglass data—open interest, liquidations, funding rates and options metrics—into its existing market‑data offering. The goal is to let users access spot price information and derivatives insights from a single interface.

Operational independence

Coinglass will continue to operate under its own brand. Its website, mobile app, free tools, APIs and pricing are expected to remain unchanged for the time being.

Coinmarketcap was acquired by Binance in 2020. The link to Binance has sparked debate among traders and analysts about the concentration of market‑data sources under a single corporate umbrella. Some observers question whether data integrity will be perceived as unbiased as the ecosystem becomes more vertically integrated.
