Binance to Shift Funding Account to Dedicated Stocks Account by January 2027

Binance will begin moving non‑stock crypto from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts on Sept. 29, with the Funding Account renamed as a Stocks Account in early 2027.

Binance announced a phased migration that will separate its crypto and equity wallets. Starting Sept. 29, non‑stock crypto balances currently held in Funding Accounts will be transferred to Spot Accounts. The Funding Account will later be renamed as a Stocks Account, dedicated to U.S. equities, stock options and a set of six settlement assets.

Migration timeline

  • Sept. 29: Begin moving eligible non‑stock crypto from Funding to Spot Accounts.
  • December 2024: P2P advertisers receive a dedicated P2P Account.
  • January 2027: Automatic batch migration of remaining balances; Funding Account officially renamed Stocks Account.

What the new Stocks Account will hold

The renamed account will be used exclusively for:

  • U.S. stocks and ETFs.
  • U.S. stock‑option contracts.
  • Six settlement assets: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB.

All other crypto assets will reside in Spot Accounts.

Impact on services

  • Binance Pay, Card and Gift Card: Deposits will be credited to Spot Accounts; Funding will cease as a payment source.
  • Convert and Binance Alpha: New orders will settle in Spot (or Alpha) accounts; existing limit orders remain active.
  • API integrations: Developers must update references from Funding to Spot.
  • P2P marketplace: Advertisers keep Funding until December, then move to a dedicated P2P Account; unmigrated ads close after Jan 2027.

One‑Click Migration option

Users with the latest app can manually trigger a one‑click transfer of supported balances before the automatic batches begin.

Background on Binance’s equity expansion

Since June 2024 Binance has offered direct access to more than 7,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, plus physically settled stock‑option contracts launched in September. The restructuring aligns the platform’s account architecture with its growing TradFi product suite.
