Bitcoin Suisse proposes up to 60 job cuts in Swiss workforce

Bitcoin Suisse announced a restructuring plan that could eliminate up to half of its Swiss staff. The company, which employs about 120 people in Switzerland, will consult employees through September 20 before finalising the number of positions to be removed.

Scope of the proposed cuts

The proposal targets back‑office, administrative and software development roles. If the maximum number is applied, 60 of the 120 Swiss jobs would be cut, reducing the firm’s global headcount by roughly 30% (the total workforce is around 200).

Relocation of functions

Technology and administrative functions are slated to move to existing and planned overseas hubs. Bratislava, Slovakia already hosts an international operating centre, and a future centre in Vietnam is being prepared. The Copenhagen development site will be closed.

Timeline

Headquarters and regulatory footprint

Management comments

CEO and co‑founder Andrej Majcen cited cost efficiency as a primary driver, noting that comparable functions can be delivered at “significantly lower cost” in Bratislava and Vietnam. He also emphasized that the restructuring is not directly linked to current cryptocurrency market conditions.
