Bitget has set a Sep. 28 restart for Bitcoin withdrawals after a Sep. 24 security incident, with Ether, USDT, and other withdrawal services scheduled to follow through Oct. 2.

Bitget announced a four‑stage plan to restart withdrawals after a security incident that forced a pause on Sep. 24. The exchange says the vulnerabilities have been fixed and third‑party security firms are assisting with the investigation.
Staged reopening schedule
- Sep. 28, 08:00 UTC – Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals resume on the Bitcoin network.
- Sep. 29, 08:00 UTC – Ether (ETH) withdrawals resume on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism.
- Sep. 30, 08:00 UTC – Tether (USDT) withdrawals resume on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana and Tron.
- Oct. 2, 08:00 UTC – Remaining tokens, fiat services and P2P withdrawals resume.
Security response
Bitget’s technical team identified and patched the vulnerabilities that led to unauthorized transfers. The exchange is conducting additional security checks before each stage. Mandiant, a Google‑owned cybersecurity firm, and blockchain security company SlowMist are assisting the investigation.
Financial impact
- Initial estimate of unauthorized transfers: about $351.6 million.
- Updated estimate (Sep. 26): approximately $387.5 million, including Zcash and TRON assets.
- Bitget’s protection fund holds over $464 million to cover the loss.
Operational status
Trading and deposits have continued throughout the withdrawal pause. User account balances remain unchanged, and no private‑key leak has been detected. Bitget will confirm each service’s availability through official notices; no action is required from customers before withdrawals resume.
