BNB Crosses $800 as DOGE and XRP Log Double‑Digit Gains

Bitcoin (BTC) climbed above $87,000 on Monday, a level not seen since late January, sparking a market‑wide rally that lifted most high‑cap altcoins.

Ethereum leads the charge

Ethereum (ETH) rose 6% to $2,770, briefly touching $2,800 before settling lower. The move lifted ETH’s market cap to about $338 billion and narrowed its year‑to‑date loss to under 7%, though it remains roughly 44% below its August 2025 peak.

BNB breaks $800

Binance Coin (BNB) surpassed the $800 mark, reaching $806 before fluctuating between $796 and $806 during the session. The price level is the highest for BNB since late January.

Dogecoin and XRP post strong gains

Dogecoin (DOGE) posted the largest gain among top‑tier altcoins, up 14% in 24 hours. XRP jumped from $1.40 to $1.54, a double‑digit increase, though its year‑to‑date loss remains above 10%.

Altcoins under pressure

Some assets slipped despite the overall bullish tone: ZEC fell 1.4% (still up >24% YTD), NEAR dropped 1.6%, RAIN slipped 0.9%, and ENA declined 4.7%.

Market volume and short‑squeeze dynamics

Analytics platform Santiment reported that combined weekly trading volume for BTC and major altcoins hit its highest level since early March. Approximately $648 million in short positions were liquidated as Bitcoin approached $85,000, contributing to the price surge. Santiment cautioned that while rising volume can validate breakouts, extreme spikes may signal crowded buying rather than fresh demand.

Altcoin market cap growth

The total market capitalization of altcoins rose from roughly $1.25 trillion to near $1.30 trillion as most assets gained between 3% and 10%.
