Canary Capital Files for Staked TRX ETF Under Ticker TRXS

Canary Capital’s amended SEC registration outlines a proposed staked TRX exchange‑traded fund (ETF) with a 1.10% annual sponsor fee, BitGo custody, and 80% of staking rewards retained by the trust.

Canary Capital announced that its proposed Canary Staked TRX ETF, to trade under the ticker TRXS, is "coming soon" following an amended registration statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on August 19.

Fund structure and fees

The filing sets an annual sponsor fee of 1.10% of the trust’s TRX holdings. The fee accrues daily and may be paid in cash or TRX. The sponsor may waive part of the fee, but is not obligated to do so.

Staking and custody

Canary plans to stake substantially all TRX held by the trust, retaining 80% of the staking rewards. The remaining up to 20% of rewards will be allocated to the staking provider, Canary, and the custodian. BitGo Bank & Trust will custody the TRX, while U.S. Bank will hold cash and other assets. U.S. Bancorp Fund Services will provide administrative and transfer‑agent services.

Trading and listing details

The ETF is expected to list on Cboe, issuing and redeeming baskets of 10,000 shares. Transactions may be settled in cash or TRX, as described in the prospectus. The fund will use the CoinDesk Tron Benchmark Rate for net asset value calculations.

Regulatory status

The registration statement remains preliminary; no SEC effectiveness notice has been issued as of September 4. The prospectus explicitly states that the SEC has not approved or disapproved the securities, and the fund will not be registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, meaning investors will lack certain regulatory protections.

Market reaction

TRX traded around $0.328 on September 4, a modest 0.6% increase, with no clear link to the ETF filing. Broader market conditions and TRON’s activity, including $2.1 trillion in USDT transfers in Q2 2026, continue to influence the token’s price.

Next steps

The key milestone is an SEC notice declaring the registration statement effective, followed by a final prospectus that would confirm a trading date and any remaining terms. Until then, TRXS should be considered a proposed, pre‑launch product.
