CertiK Joins Linux Foundation’s LF Decentralized Trust to Boost Blockchain Security
Blockchain security firm CertiK has become a member of the Linux Foundation’s LF Decentralized Trust (LFDT), pledging research, formal verification and audit expertise to open‑source projects used by enterprises and institutions.

CertiK announced its membership in LF Decentralized Trust (LFDT), the Linux Foundation initiative that supports open‑source decentralized technologies. The firm will contribute security research, formal verification and audit capabilities to LFDT’s enterprise‑focused projects and working groups.
Focus on Enterprise and Institutional Infrastructure
Through the membership, CertiK plans to work alongside enterprises, startups and technical teams developing interoperable decentralized infrastructure for finance, banking, supply chains, healthcare and telecommunications.
Recent Security Work on Besu
CertiK’s earlier independent research on the LFDT‑hosted Ethereum client Besu identified five vulnerabilities—including resource‑exhaustion issues that could disrupt node availability. Besu patched all findings in version 26.7.1, released on July 27, with advisories published on August 14.
Regulatory Context Driving Security Demand
CertiK’s regulatory analysis notes that independent smart‑contract audits have become mandatory or indirectly required for licensing in jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, the UAE and the EU, as well as several U.S. states. Anti‑money‑laundering (AML) enforcement generated over $900 million in fines and settlements in the first half of 2025, prompting a shift toward integrating security and compliance early in development cycles.
Public‑Sector Engagements
In September, CertiK signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic to support security, AML and counter‑terrorism‑financing oversight for the country’s Digital Som central‑bank digital currency project.
LFDT’s Growing Ecosystem
LFDT continues to expand its open‑source portfolio, including projects such as Besu, the Linea Stack and upcoming contributions from the OpenWallet Foundation. CertiK’s involvement aims to embed security expertise directly into the development process for systems adopted by financial institutions, enterprises and governments.
