Charles Schwab to Add Solana, Avalanche and Chainlink to Its Crypto Platform
Charles Schwab plans to add Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chainlink (LINK) to its Schwab Crypto service, expanding direct trading beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum for U.S. retail clients.

Charles Schwab announced that its Schwab Crypto platform will soon support three additional digital assets – Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chainlink (LINK). The move expands the brokerage’s direct‑trading lineup from two to five cryptocurrencies for U.S. retail investors.
Planned Rollout
The firm did not disclose a specific launch date or whether the three tokens will become available simultaneously. Schwab said the selection was based on customer interest and the established nature of the assets, but it did not publish detailed criteria or trading limits.
Current Offering and Fees
Schwab Crypto currently allows direct buying and selling of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Transactions are charged at 0.75% of the trade value. The brokerage partners with Paxos for trade execution and sub‑custody, while Schwab Premier Bank holds customer assets.
Market Reaction
Following the announcement, Solana rose more than 9% in 24 hours, trading around $104.84. Avalanche and Chainlink each gained roughly 2% to 5% over the same period, though broader market movements also contributed to the price changes.
Client Reach and Future Plans
Schwab reported $13.1 trillion in client assets and 39.8 million active brokerage accounts in Q2. While the new assets are not immediately available, the firm expects to add further cryptocurrencies over time and is testing crypto transfers that could enable movement of eligible assets between Schwab and external platforms.
Geographic and Custody Details
U.S. clients in New York, Louisiana, U.S. territories and international markets remain excluded from Schwab Crypto. Access requires a separate Schwab Crypto account linked to an existing brokerage relationship, with custody remaining with Schwab Premier Bank rather than a self‑custody wallet.
