Circle’s Noble shutdown leaves Cosmos racing to move $92 million in USDC

Circle is ending USDC issuance on the Noble appchain, forcing the Cosmos ecosystem to relocate roughly $92 million of USDC to the Injective chain before January 2027.

Deadline and migration timeline

Circle will stop minting new USDC on Noble via Circle Mint on October 13. Redemptions remain possible until January 12, 2027, but cross‑chain burn limits on the legacy CCTP start decreasing on October 31, tightening exit routes well before the final deadline.

New routing through Injective

Cosmos Labs has arranged a migration path using Skip:Go, allowing users to convert Noble‑based USDC (USDC.n) to Injective‑issued USDC (USDC.inj) starting September 11. The first migration flow will support dYdX, Osmosis, Cosmos Hub, Terra 2.0, Neutron, ZIGChain, XPLA and Initia.

Impact on liquidity providers and protocols

Liquidity pools and smart contracts holding USDC at the January 12 snapshot will not qualify for Circle’s manual redemption, making protocol‑level migration urgent. Exchanges are losing support; Coinbase stopped Noble USDC deposits on August 17.

Technical details of the migration

Users select USDC.n as the source and USDC.inj as the destination, sign a transaction on the origin chain and another on Injective, while a Skip relayer handles the intermediate CCTP steps. Additional chains must connect IBC relayers to Injective to join the route.
