CME Expands Crypto Futures Lineup With Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap

The exchange operator is adding standard and micro contracts for BCH and UNI, extending a pattern of altcoin rollouts that already covers Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche, and Sui.

CME Group announced plans to launch futures contracts for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) on October 19, pending regulatory approval. Both assets will be offered in standard and micro contract sizes, giving traders flexibility in exposure.

Contract specifications

  • Bitcoin Cash standard contract: 250 BCH
  • Bitcoin Cash micro contract: 25 BCH
  • Uniswap standard contract: 10,000 UNI
  • Uniswap micro contract: 1,000 UNI

Market context

At the time of the announcement, Bitcoin Cash was trading around $338 per coin, up more than 25% in a day, with a market cap near $6 billion. Uniswap’s token UNI was priced at $9.28, up 5.5% over 24 hours, and had a market cap of approximately $5.75 billion.

Broader CME altcoin rollout

This addition follows CME’s earlier introductions of futures for Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche and Sui, as well as existing contracts for Bitcoin, Ether, XRP and Solana. The expansion has generated over $1 billion in total notional value year‑to‑date.

Trading volume and open interest

In the first half of 2026, CME’s crypto futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts daily, representing $8.3 billion in notional volume, with average open interest of 264,600 contracts (about $15.4 billion).

Industry perspective

Giovanni Vicioso, CME’s global head of cryptocurrency products, said the new contracts are designed for capital efficiency and to provide regulated exposure to key crypto networks. Industry leaders highlighted the need for regulated, round‑the‑clock derivatives to support institutional crypto exposure.
