Coinbase partners with Stablecore to offer digital‑asset services to over 3,000 U.S. banks and credit unions

Coinbase is partnering with Stablecore to bring crypto custody, trading and stablecoin payment capabilities into the existing technology stacks of more than 3,000 community and regional banks and credit unions across the United States.

Coinbase has teamed up with banking‑infrastructure provider Stablecore to embed digital‑asset services directly into the core and digital banking platforms used by thousands of U.S. banks and credit unions. The collaboration aims to let smaller financial institutions add crypto custody, trading and stablecoin payment options without building their own crypto technology.

How the integration works

Stablecore supplies a white‑label stack that plugs into a bank’s existing systems. Coinbase provides the underlying digital‑asset infrastructure, including custody and trading engines as well as stablecoin settlement capabilities. The approach allows banks to keep their own customer‑facing interfaces while offering crypto‑related products behind the scenes.

Potential reach versus actual adoption

Stablecore’s platform is already connected to more than 3,000 community and regional banks and credit unions. This figure reflects the number of institutions that could access Coinbase‑powered services, not the number that have already launched them. Adoption will depend on which banks choose to activate the capabilities.

Early participants

Implementation is underway with at least one institution, Amarillo National Bank in Texas, which is testing the integrated solution.

Implications for crypto usage

Embedding stablecoin payments and digital‑asset balances into familiar banking apps could make crypto interactions appear less distinct from traditional finance. Users may see a stablecoin option or a crypto balance within a regular bank interface, while the blockchain operates in the background.
