Coinbase expands Webull crypto partnership to Canada

Coinbase announced that its Crypto‑as‑a‑Service platform will now power Webull Canada’s digital‑asset trading, liquidity and institutional custody offering. The move extends an existing partnership that already serves Webull users in the United States, Brazil and Australia.

How the partnership works

Webull Canada will connect to Coinbase’s infrastructure for order execution, market liquidity and custodial services while retaining control of the customer‑facing experience. This allows Canadian investors to trade crypto directly within the Webull app without needing a separate Coinbase account.

Regulatory context

Webull Canada Crypto Limited operates as a CIRO‑regulated investment dealer. Crypto assets held through the platform are not covered by the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF), although eligible cash balances may receive limited protection. The partnership complies with the regulatory approvals Webull obtained to launch crypto trading in Canada.

Market demand

An Ontario Securities Commission survey found that 25% of Canadians own crypto assets or crypto funds, up from 10% in 2023. Among identified investors, the ownership rate reaches 39%, indicating strong interest in expanding asset classes.

Webull Canada plans to offer 24‑hour trading for a selection of cryptocurrencies, including:
