Coinbase Wallet adds Pulse Mode for mobile perpetual futures trading

Coinbase has rolled out a new feature called Pulse Mode inside its self‑custodial Coinbase Wallet app. The mode provides a streamlined interface for opening and managing leveraged long or short positions on perpetual contracts, commonly known as perps.

What Pulse Mode offers

Pulse Mode reorganizes the existing perpetual futures function into a faster trading screen that highlights market direction, position size and execution. The interface is designed to reduce the number of advanced settings displayed at once, aiming at traders who prefer a simpler mobile experience.

Supported assets and markets

The wallet continues to support a broad range of assets, including major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, tokenized stocks like Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Alphabet, commodities, prediction contracts and other tokenized assets. Perpetual contracts are powered by the third‑party provider Hyperliquid.

Geographic availability

Perpetual futures, including Pulse Mode, are only available to non‑U.S. users in selected jurisdictions. The app’s listing notes that U.S. residents cannot access these leveraged products, and eligibility is subject to location checks and compliance requirements.

Open questions

Coinbase has not published detailed information on Pulse Mode fees, leverage limits, order‑type options, margin settings or funding rates. The company also has not released a dedicated documentation page explaining whether the feature changes execution, risk controls or liquidation mechanics compared with the underlying Hyperliquid infrastructure.

Product positioning

The addition of Pulse Mode follows the recent rebranding of the Base App back to Coinbase Wallet, reinforcing the app’s role as a self‑custodial, multi‑asset trading platform. Coinbase describes the wallet as an “everything exchange,” though availability of specific services varies by jurisdiction.
