Cryptoquant’s Bitcoin Bull Score Jumps to 80, but $83,000 Is the Real Test

Cryptoquant’s Bull Score surged from 30 to 80 in a week as Bitcoin rallied to around $81,000, yet the firm says a weekly close above $83,000 is required to confirm a new bull market.

Cryptoquant’s Bull Score, an index that blends demand, profitability, network activity and liquidity metrics, rose sharply from 30 to 80 over the past week – the highest reading since October 2025 and the fastest shift in market conditions this year.

Rapid Score Increase and Price Action

During the same period Bitcoin gained roughly 24%, moving from below $64,000 to a brief peak above $81,000 before settling near $79,000. Eight of the ten underlying indicators now show bullish signals, and spot and futures demand rose together for the first time since early October 2025.

ETF Inflows Support Momentum

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $1.9 billion in net inflows for the week ending August 21, marking the strongest weekly intake since October 2025 and extending a multi‑week inflow streak.

Threshold for a Confirmed Bull Market

Cryptoquant says a weekly close above $83,000 – roughly the 365‑day moving average – is needed to label the move a confirmed bull market. Until that level is sustained, the firm characterises the rally as the “initial phase” of a potential new cycle.

Context Within the Year

Earlier in 2026 the Bull Score fell to as low as 20 during a period of market stress. The separate Bull‑Bear Cycle Indicator turned green in May, the first time since March 2023, indicating improving on‑chain conditions.
