Ethereum Holds Near $2,500 as Resistance at $2,550 Persists
Ethereum recovered toward $2,500 on Sep. 18, with buyers defending support near $2,400. Daily and 4‑hour charts show the $2,550 area as the main barrier to a larger breakout.

Ethereum (ETH) rose about 3% in the last 24 hours, trading around $2,500 after rebounding from a dip toward $2,385 earlier in the week. Buyers have pushed the price back above $2,500, but the move has not yet broken the key resistance zone that has capped the market since late August.
Technical outlook
On the daily chart, the Bollinger Bands place immediate resistance at $2,549 and support near $2,467. The price opened near $2,447, reached a high of $2,522 and a low of $2,437. A close above $2,550 would move ETH outside its recent range and open the next resistance level around $2,600, followed by a broader supply zone between $2,700 and $2,800.
The daily RSI sits at 58.35, indicating positive momentum, but it remains below its signal line, suggesting the breakout is not fully confirmed.
4‑hour momentum
The 4‑hour chart shows higher short‑term lows since the Sep. 16 sell‑off. The Bull Bear Power indicator rose to 85.09, and positive histogram bars expanded, reflecting renewed buying strength. However, the Supertrend remains bearish, with resistance at $2,526.61. A close above this level would align the 4‑hour and daily resistance zones around $2,527‑$2,550.
Support on the 4‑hour chart is near $2,442; a break below could reopen the $2,400‑$2,385 area.
Liquidity and liquidation clusters
CoinGlass’s one‑week liquidation heatmap shows liquidity clusters around $2,490‑$2,520 (current price), larger clusters at $2,630‑$2,650, and additional liquidity below $2,440‑$2,410. If ETH clears $2,550, the higher clusters could trigger volatility as short positions face forced closures.
Analyst perspectives
Analysts describe the pattern as a “rally‑base‑rally” with a base near $2,385 and a top around $2,550‑$2,600. A weekly close above $2,550 is seen as a potential trigger for a move toward $3,000, with a major resistance zone near $2,800.
Until a decisive close above $2,550 occurs, ETH remains in a range bounded by support around $2,385‑$2,440 and resistance between $2,527 and $2,550.
