Data from Coinglass shows $41.13 million in total LSK liquidations across the day, with $33.68 million coming from short positions and $7.44 million from longs. The four‑to‑one ratio indicates that short sellers were forced to buy back the token as the price rose, amplifying the move.

Liquidity context

Open interest in LSK futures reached about $42 million, while daily futures turnover was around $501 million. Spot order books were comparatively thin, contributing to the rapid price swing.

Underlying project developments

Most of the positioning dates back to August 25, when Lisk announced plans to shut down its blockchain on October 31 and transition to a stablecoin‑payments service for corporate finance teams. The proposal includes burning 100 million LSK from the treasury, reducing maximum supply by roughly 25%. Token holders have not yet voted on the change.

Lisk continues to operate as a loyalty token on Ethereum and Base. Holders on the original Lisk chain must bridge their assets to Ethereum before the October 31 deadline; the withdrawal process takes about eight days, with an additional three‑day period for unlocking and unstaking.
