Gemini receives Singapore payment license for crypto services
Gemini’s local entity is authorized to provide digital payment token and cross-border money transfer services without standard transaction-volume limits.

Gemini has been granted a Major Payment Institution (MPI) licence by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), allowing its Singapore‑based subsidiary to offer regulated digital payment token services and cross‑border money transfers.
License details
The MPI licence is listed in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory for Gemini Digital Payments Singapore. Unlike standard payment institutions, MPI licence holders are not subject to transaction‑volume caps, though they face stricter regulatory oversight due to the larger scale of their operations.
Operational history in Singapore
Gemini has served Singaporean customers since 2020. In April 2025 the firm transferred its local client base from Gemini Trust Company, which operated under an exemption, to the newly incorporated Gemini Digital Payments Singapore while awaiting final approval.
Strategic significance
Both Gemini co‑founders highlighted Singapore as a strategic hub for retail and institutional crypto services. The exchange currently provides spot trading, digital‑asset custody, and over‑the‑counter (OTC) services in the market.
