iFX Hack Hong Kong 2026 Brings AI Innovation to The University of Hong Kong

iFX Hack Hong Kong 2026, a trading and fintech hackathon powered by AWS, will be held at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) on October 4, 2026. The event gathers students, developers, entrepreneurs, AI specialists and financial‑services professionals to create AI‑driven prototypes for finance.

Organisers and Partners

The hackathon is co‑organized by iFX, HKU Business School, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), and AWS. Partners include the Artificial Intelligence Association of Hong Kong (AIHK) and Tsunami Advisors, with support from the HKU Technology Entrepreneurship Core (TEC).

Theme and Scope

Under the theme “Build the Future of Finance with AI,” participants will identify a problem in financial services and develop an AI‑powered solution or working prototype. Areas of focus may include trading, payments, compliance and digital assets.

Participation Details

• Free entry, open to students and professionals aged 18 and over.
• Teams of 2–5 members; individuals can be matched with others.
• Maximum of 100 participants.

Schedule and Prizes

The hackathon runs from 09:30 to 21:00 on October 4 in Lecture Hall II, Centennial Campus, HKU. The top seven teams will advance to a grand final at iFX EXPO Asia on October 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with October 5‑7 allocated for prototype refinement. A prize pool of HKD 28,000 will be awarded:

• 1st place: HKD 16,000
• 2nd place: HKD 8,000
• 3rd place: HKD 4,000
