Metaplanet launches $1M Hong Kong Bitcoin unit
Metaplanet approved a $1 million Hong Kong subsidiary to execute Bitcoin-linked strategies and manage investment risk during Asian hours.

Metaplanet has received board approval to establish a wholly‑owned subsidiary in Hong Kong with an initial capital contribution of $1 million. The new entity, Metaplanet Asset Management Asia Limited, will focus on Bitcoin‑related investment strategies and provide execution, monitoring and risk‑control services during Asian market hours.
Purpose and Scope
The Hong Kong unit will manage both client funds and Metaplanet’s own capital across a range of liquid instruments, including Bitcoin, listed equities, preferred securities, credit products and derivatives. Its primary role is to execute purchases and sales, monitor market conditions and manage positions when U.S. markets are closed, thereby extending the firm’s coverage across Asia, Europe and the United States.
Management
Directors Simon Gerovich, Darren Winia and Kelvin Lee have been appointed to oversee the subsidiary at launch. Metaplanet will retain 100 % ownership of the entity.
Integration with Existing Operations
The Hong Kong subsidiary will complement Metaplanet’s Miami‑based asset‑management business, which serves as the central institutional hub for the group. Together, the two locations will provide a continuous operational platform for Bitcoin‑linked financial services under the broader “Project Nova” initiative.
Regulatory and Financial Outlook
Metaplanet expects to incorporate the Hong Kong company by the end of September 2026. The filing does not specify a licensing regime, employee count beyond the three directors, or a launch date for client services. Management forecasts that the subsidiary will have a minimal impact on consolidated results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2026.
Related Developments
Metaplanet’s expansion includes a recent acquisition of Japanese brokerage Siiibo Securities (renamed Metaplanet Securities) and a pending U.S. transaction that would place 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million into Nasdaq‑listed Super League Enterprise, slated to become “Superplanet.”
