Mexican Rock Star and Family Killed Over $1.5 Million Bitcoin Wallet

Authorities in Mexico have confirmed that Jonathan Meléndez, a member of the rock band Camilo Séptimo, his pregnant wife, their three‑year‑old daughter and a housemaid were found dead in their Atizapán apartment on September 1. The killings are linked to a dispute over Meléndez’s cryptocurrency holdings.

Investigators say the victims were bound and shot, with the housemaid also suffering a gunshot wound to the back. The family dog was also found dead at the scene.

Suspects and motive

Two suspects, identified as Diego Sebastian “N” and Gerardo “N”, were arrested within 12 hours of the murders. Both were reportedly aware of a hardware wallet containing about $1.5 million worth of Bitcoin and allegedly entered the home to seize it. Gerardo “N” is said to have been promised roughly $120,000 for his participation.

Legal repercussions

Each suspect faces up to 70 years in prison for each count of first‑degree murder.
