Metaplanet transfers 4,800 BTC to Coinbase
The Japanese Bitcoin treasury company has transferred 10,270 BTC to Coinbase Prime this week, an amount equal to more than 29% of its reported holdings.

Metaplanet, Japan’s largest corporate Bitcoin treasury, moved 4,800 BTC—valued at roughly $377 million—to Coinbase Prime. The transfer follows a series of deposits to the exchange earlier in the week.
Weekly transfer activity
According to Arkham Intelligence data, the company made four separate deposits to Coinbase Prime over the past six days:
- 4,800 BTC (~$377 million) today
- 2,000 BTC (~$155.5 million) two days ago
- 3,331 BTC (~$266 million) three days ago
- 139 BTC (~$11.1 million) six days ago
The cumulative total of 10,270 BTC represents about $806 million in value.
Impact on Metaplanet’s holdings
Metaplanet holds 35,102 BTC, valued at approximately $2.75 billion, making it the fourth‑largest corporate Bitcoin holder. If the recent deposits are sales, the company’s holdings would shrink by more than 29%.
Industry context
Other corporate treasuries are taking opposite actions. French Bitcoin treasury firm Capital B announced a €21 million private placement to acquire 270 BTC. Smaller treasury companies have also been reported selling portions of their Bitcoin reserves.
Outlook
The motives behind Metaplanet’s transfers remain unclear, and the market will be watching for any further moves that could signal broader trends among corporate Bitcoin treasuries.
