Phemex Flags 82 USDT Spot Pairs for Liquidity and Compliance Risks

Phemex placed 82 USDT spot trading pairs under Special Treatment on Aug. 31, requiring users to pass a Risk Cognizance Test before trading due to low liquidity, missing project updates, or unmet whitepaper milestones.

Phemex announced that 82 unique USDT‑denominated spot pairs have been put under Special Treatment as of 10:00 UTC on Aug. 31. Traders must complete a mandatory Risk Cognizance Test before they can trade any of these pairs.

Scope of the restriction

The exchange released two separate notices covering 43 and 40 entries respectively. After accounting for a duplicate entry (MAGIC/USDT), the total distinct markets affected amount to 82. Risk criteria applied

Phemex said each pair met at least one of three risk categories:

  • Failure of the project team to provide a valid response to operational update requests.
  • Missing critical whitepaper milestones without a reasonable public explanation.

The exchange’s broader Special Treatment rules define low‑liquidity conditions (e.g., bid‑ask spread > 0.5%, average daily volume
