Post‑quantum infrastructure company QuFi Network has introduced a verification platform that aims to protect digital assets from future quantum computing threats while leaving existing blockchain settlement networks untouched.

How the platform works

The system separates verification from settlement. A decentralized network of nodes validates transactions using post‑quantum cryptography before those transactions are settled on the underlying blockchain. This external verification layer avoids the storage, bandwidth and computing overhead that would arise from embedding larger post‑quantum signatures directly on blockchains.

Proof‑of‑concept on Bitcoin Testnet

QuFi demonstrated the approach with uBTC, a proof‑of‑concept that applies the verification system to Bitcoin. Operating on Bitcoin Testnet4, uBTC verifies BTC collateral and generates cryptographic proofs that govern value movement between settlement environments. Redemptions ultimately settle as standard Bitcoin transactions.

Post‑quantum standards employed

The platform utilizes three post‑quantum cryptographic standards:

  • ML‑DSA‑65 for digital signatures
  • SLH‑DSA for digital signatures
  • ML‑KEM‑1024 for secure key exchange

QuFi’s launch follows several recent initiatives aimed at quantum‑resistant blockchain solutions. In August, StarkWare tested a quantum‑resistant Bitcoin transaction on mainnet without a fork, though the transaction required hours of computation and cost between $150 and $200.
