Robinhood Chain kept producing blocks while its Ethereum blob posts paused for 14 minutes
Blocks came every 101 ms throughout the outage reported on Friday. The chain's transaction data went missing on Ethereum for exactly 14 minutes, across two gaps. Arbitrum blamed Ethereum's blob market, which fits the second gap and not the first.

Robinhood Chain continued to create blocks at its regular 101 ms cadence on September 4, but its batch‑posting to Ethereum’s blob market stopped for a total of 14 minutes. The interruption affected only the data that is posted to Ethereum, not the on‑chain activity of Robinhood itself.
Uninterrupted block production
From 12:00 UTC to 15:00 UTC the chain produced 106,756 blocks, matching an average interval of one block every 101 ms. Sampled blocks during the period contained 14‑22 transactions each, confirming that the network remained fully operational.
Two gaps in blob posting
The batch poster (address 0xDaa5…87F4) normally submits a blob transaction roughly every 12 seconds. It failed to post for 8 minutes 36 seconds (12:29:47 – 12:38:23 UTC) and then for a further 5 minutes 24 seconds (12:42:47 – 12:48:11 UTC), totaling exactly 14 minutes of missing data on Ethereum.
Blob market conditions
During the first gap, Ethereum blocks had 263 unused blob slots and a base fee of about 0.0086 gwei, well below the poster’s bid of 0.0616 gwei. The second gap coincided with a rise in the blob base fee to roughly 0.0625 gwei, exceeding the poster’s standing bid, and the batch that ended the gap raised its ceiling to 0.8187 gwei.
Response and fee adjustments
When posting resumed, the poster increased its fee ceiling multiple times, eventually bidding 0.8187 gwei and later reaching 1.4239 gwei, far above the prevailing base fee. It is unclear whether this escalation was a reaction to market pressure or a recovery measure.
Impact on downstream services
Direct user transactions on Robinhood Chain experienced no delay. However, infrastructure providers that rely on the chain’s data stream saw a brief performance impact due to the high number of feed subscribers.
