SBI Invests $25 Million in Singapore’s Dtcpay to Expand Stablecoin Payments

SBI Group backs Singapore‑based Dtcpay, extending its Series A to $25 million to grow a regulated stablecoin merchant network and new payment products across Asia.

SBI Holdings has injected additional capital into Singapore‑based Dtcpay, bringing the company’s Series A financing to a total of $25 million. The funding is aimed at scaling the firm’s regulated stablecoin payment infrastructure, expanding its merchant network, and launching new consumer and enterprise payment features.

Investment details

The capital was provided through two Singapore‑registered vehicles managed by SBI: SBI Ventures Asset Pte. Ltd. and the SBI‑NTU‑Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund. The round follows an earlier $10 million Series A tranche led by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India in March.

Focus on merchant growth and product expansion

Dtcpay plans to use the new funds to:

  • Increase its merchant acquisition efforts across regulated markets.
  • Enhance its business portal and consumer app with additional stablecoin‑to‑fiat features.
  • Broaden its presence in new jurisdictions that grant stablecoin payment licenses.

Stablecoin payment capabilities

Dtcpay enables merchants to accept, store, and transact in both stablecoins and fiat currencies via a real‑time swap engine. Integration with WalletConnect links the service to more than 700 digital wallets, while a Visa‑linked stablecoin‑to‑fiat card gives users access to over 150 million merchant locations.

Regulatory backdrop

Dtcpay operates under a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and holds an Electronic Money Institution license in Luxembourg. These licences cover account issuance, domestic and cross‑border transfers, merchant acquisition, e‑money issuance, and digital payment token services.

SBI’s regional strategy

The investment reinforces SBI’s broader push to build a digital‑asset corridor between Japan and Southeast Asia. Recent moves include a controlling stake in Singapore‑based crypto exchange Coinhako and a yen‑won stablecoin pilot conducted by SBI Digital Practice and South Korean insurer Kyobo Life.
