Solana lender Kamino appoints Yieldstreet co‑founder Michael Weisz as CEO and opens New York office
Michael Weisz will lead Kamino from a new New York headquarters as the DeFi lender expands into tokenized assets.

Solana‑based lending protocol Kamino announced the appointment of Michael Weisz, co‑founder of Yieldstreet, as its chief executive officer. The move coincides with the launch of a New York headquarters, signaling the platform’s push to integrate more closely with Wall Street and to broaden its offering to tokenized real‑world assets.
Leadership and New York expansion
Weisz will head Kamino from a planned 20,000‑square‑foot office in New York. The company also intends to add a chief financial officer and a head of legal to support its growth.
Focus on tokenized assets
Kamino’s strategy includes extending its lending model to tokenized real‑world assets, such as blockchain‑based home‑equity loans. Its PRIME market, built with Figure Technologies and Hastra, uses Figure’s home‑equity loans as collateral and has attracted over $600 million in deposits within roughly three months of launch.
Existing infrastructure and partners
Kamino’s infrastructure already supports Nasdaq‑listed Forward Industries and digital‑asset manager Galaxy, which use the platform for tokenized equity and U.S. Treasury positions.
Transaction volume and assets under management
The protocol reports more than $650 billion in cumulative transaction volume over four years and currently manages about $1.4 billion in assets.
Industry context
Tokenization of traditional securities is gaining traction among major financial institutions, with projections that the market could reach trillions of dollars by 2030. Kamino’s New York presence aims to bridge on‑chain finance with asset managers, distribution platforms, and institutional capital.
