KB Securities Teams with Securitize and Optimism to Tokenize Traditional Assets
South Korea’s KB Securities has partnered with tokenization platform Securitize and The Optimism Foundation to bring tokenized securities to domestic institutional investors.

South Korea’s KB Securities announced a strategic collaboration with digital‑asset tokenization platform Securitize and blockchain organization The Optimism Foundation to develop and distribute tokenized financial products for institutional investors in the country.
Phased Rollout Plan
The partnership will launch in stages. The first phase targets institutional liquidity products, beginning with a tokenized money‑market fund issued on Optimism’s OP Mainnet. Subsequent phases will introduce a tokenized investment vehicle managed by KB Asset Management, followed by tokenized Korean bonds, equities, American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), corporate debt, and government bonds as regulatory guidance evolves.
Regulatory Context
The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts by South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) to define rules for security token offerings and blockchain‑based issuance. By using Securitize’s compliance framework on OP Mainnet, KB Securities aims to create a scalable operational baseline that meets emerging local regulations.
Industry Perspectives
Kang Jin‑doo, CEO of KB Securities, highlighted the collaboration’s role in bridging traditional capital markets with the on‑chain economy. Carlos Domingo, co‑founder and CEO of Securitize, emphasized the introduction of proven global tokenization infrastructure to Korea. Jing Wang, CEO and co‑founder of OP Labs, noted that the choice of OP Mainnet demonstrates the model’s applicability beyond U.S. dollar‑centric markets.
