Strategy Bitcoin Treasury Hits Breakeven as BTC Rallies Past $77K

Bitcoin jumped 20% over a 48-hour period to reach $77,400, lifting business intelligence firm Strategy's massive corporate Bitcoin treasury back into profitability.

Bitcoin rallied sharply, climbing 20% over a 48-hour period to reach local highs above $77,400 ahead of the final Wall Street open. The upward movement marked Bitcoin's highest price level since May 26 and successfully pushed major corporate treasury holdings back into the green.

Strategy's Treasury Returns to Profit

Data from BitcoinTreasuries indicates that the cost basis for Strategy's holdings of 840,447 BTC sits at $75,385. With the latest price surge, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin treasury company has seen its year-to-date gain climb to approximately $450 million.

The return to profitability alleviates recent market concerns regarding the long-term viability of the firm's investment strategy. Between August 3 and August 9, Strategy had sold 1,690 BTC to repurchase 1.15 million shares of its STRC preferred stock for $108.6 million, marking its fourth Bitcoin sale of 2026. Independent analyst William Clemente noted that the subsequent price impulse has left the company even more over-collateralized by its Bitcoin holdings. Furthermore, current CEO Phong Le stated in an August interview with Fox News that Strategy intends to resume buying Bitcoin before the end of the year.

New Support Band Forms Below $70,000

As the market absorbed the volatile upside move, onchain data from Glassnode revealed a dense safety net forming below spot prices. Approximately 3.44 million BTC maintain an onchain cost basis between $58,000 and $67,000. Of that total, 2.23 million BTC—representing roughly 11% of the total supply—was accumulated over an 11-week period.

Glassnode co-founder Rafael Schultze-Kraft highlighted this accumulation as the densest cost-basis cluster below spot, acting as a key potential support zone during any market retracements. Additionally, the broader market rally enabled Bitcoin to break through several resistance levels, including its 200-day simple moving average at $68,967.
