Strive CEO Says Bitcoin’s Bear Market Is Over After Double Breakout
Strive CEO Matt Cole says the Bitcoin (BTC) bear market has ended, citing the asset’s breakout against both the US dollar and gold in the same week. Cole argues that the BTC/gold ratio has turned before the dollar price at recent inflection points. He now expects the next cycle to be the strongest Bitcoin has produced.
Strive CEO Matt Cole announced that he believes the Bitcoin bear market has concluded, pointing to a simultaneous breakout of Bitcoin against the US dollar and gold within a single week.
BTC/Gold Ratio as an Early Indicator
Cole highlighted that the BTC/gold ratio historically turned before the BTC/USD price at key inflection points. He noted a peak against gold in December 2024, while the dollar price peaked later in October 2025. The ratio bottom was dated to February 2026, with the dollar bottom following in July 2026, a five‑month lag.
Recent Price Action
Bitcoin rose roughly 21% between Wednesday and Friday of the previous week, briefly surpassing $79,000. Market data show a 22% gain against the US dollar this month and a 6.6% gain against gold.
Potential for Further Moves
Cole acknowledged the possibility of a pullback but expects strong buying if a correction occurs. He stated, “My conviction is very strong that the Bitcoin bear market is over… seeing both relationships now turn higher together gives me more confidence in the next 12 to 18 months.”
Strive’s Bitcoin Position
Strive holds 20,246 BTC, ranking seventh among public company holders. The average cost of the position is $94,345 per Bitcoin, about 22% above current levels, resulting in an unrealized loss of roughly $350 million despite the recent rally.
