Sui Stablecoin Supply Holds Near $500M as Volume Tops $65B
Sui’s onchain stablecoin supply is holding near $500 million, per Defillama, even as the network’s zero-fee transfer rails keep processing tens of billions of dollars in monthly settlement volume.

Sui’s on‑chain stablecoin supply has stabilized around $500 million, while the network’s zero‑fee transfer infrastructure has moved more than $65 billion in stablecoins since early June.
Supply Plateau After a Sharp Decline
Defillama data shows the total stablecoin balance on Sui hovering near $478 million, roughly 69 % below its peak of $1.6 billion recorded in May 2025. The supply has remained flat through the first half of 2026 after falling from its high point.
Zero‑Fee Transfers Drive Massive Volume
In May, Mysten Labs introduced a protocol‑level change that eliminated transfer fees for seven stablecoins and removed the requirement to hold native SUI tokens for moving funds. Since June 10, the network has processed over $65 billion in fee‑free stablecoin transfers, contributing to a cumulative transaction volume of more than $2.27 trillion and 16 billion transactions since early 2024.
Why Volume Doesn’t Translate to Higher Supply
The fee‑free model encourages rapid movement of stablecoins between wallets and applications rather than long‑term holding on‑chain. Consequently, high settlement volume coexists with a steady resident supply.

Outlook
Future growth in Sui’s stablecoin supply will likely depend on new issuance or institutional adoption rather than transfer activity alone. Expansion from existing issuers such as Circle or the introduction of a native stablecoin could push the supply above the current $500 million threshold.
