Fundstrat Strategist Tom Lee Forecasts Bullish Crypto Year Ahead

Tom Lee says crypto's next 12 months look really bullish. His own firm is $5 billion underwater on ether.

Wall Street strategist Tom Lee, who chairs BitMine Immersion Technologies and leads research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, predicts a strongly bullish period for the cryptocurrency market over the next twelve months.

Recent Market Pain May Set the Stage

Lee points to the market turmoil that began on October 10 of the previous year, when a threat of 100% tariffs on China triggered the largest crypto liquidation event on record. More than $19 billion in leveraged positions were wiped out in a single day, removing a substantial amount of borrowed capital from the market.

Current Price Context

Bitcoin (BTC) is trading around $77,315, roughly 39 % below its all‑time high of just over $126,000 that was set shortly before the October crash. Ether (ETH) has risen 3.2 % in the last 24 hours to about $2,533.

Tokenization as a Growth Driver

Lee highlights tokenization—the migration of stocks, bonds and funds onto blockchain platforms—as a potential catalyst for long‑term value creation. He estimates that moving $100 trillion of assets onto chain and capturing 1 % of that flow could generate $1.1 trillion in annual income, valuing the opportunity at roughly $20 trillion.

Contrasting Views on Tokenization

Critics, such as Iggy Ioppe of Theo, describe the practice as “tokenization theater.” BeInCrypto’s Tokenization 2026 report notes that, as of May 31, only $60 billion—about 0.06 % of Lee’s projected figure—was on‑chain, with more than half of that value showing no weekly transfers.

Regulatory Landscape

The U.S. Senate is set to vote on the CLARITY Act, which would give the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) authority over spot crypto markets. Lee argues that the CFTC already functions in that capacity.

Lee’s Position and Past Statements

BitMine’s ether holdings, valued at roughly $5 billion, are currently underwater. In August, Lee suggested that heightened fear could push Bitcoin toward $150,000, emphasizing the choice between being correct and making money.

Fundstrat’s Allocation Guidance

Fundstrat has recommended a 2 % allocation to crypto for more than a decade. In client portfolios that follow this guidance, crypto now represents over 85 % of the total allocation.
