Wall Street injects nearly $900 million into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs

Bitcoin ETFs saw $730.8 million in inflows and Ethereum ETFs $141.4 million as spot prices broke key levels, marking the third‑largest daily Bitcoin inflow of 2026.

U.S. spot exchange‑traded funds for Bitcoin and Ethereum attracted almost $900 million in fresh capital, coinciding with both assets crossing notable price thresholds.

ETF inflows drive spot rally

Bitcoin funds recorded $730.8 million in net purchases, the third‑largest daily inflow for the year. Ethereum ETFs added $141.4 million. The surge helped lift Bitcoin above $81,000 and Ethereum past $2,500.

Key contributors

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) accounted for roughly $454 million, about 62 % of total Bitcoin inflows. ARK 21Shares (ARKB) contributed $137.7 million and Fidelity’s FBTC added $74.4 million. On the Ethereum side, BlackRock’s ETHA and Fidelity’s FETH together attracted $137.2 million, representing almost the entire net inflow.

Market impact and leverage

According to XS.com’s head of business development, the large inflows absorbed significant sell orders and supported spot price gains despite rising sovereign bond yields in the U.S. and Japan. The stronger spot market spilled into derivatives, with Bitcoin futures open interest climbing above $57 billion – the highest since May – and more than $260 million of short positions liquidated, marking the biggest short squeeze since August 2021.

Volatility and outlook

Recent ETF flows have been volatile: Bitcoin ETFs swung from a $236.5 million outflow on September 1 to a $101.1 million inflow the next day before the $730.8 million surge. Ethereum funds posted a $48.2 million outflow on September 2, ending a 12‑session inflow streak, then reversed sharply. Continued inflows could deepen spot demand and support leverage rebuilding, while another reversal would underscore market volatility.
