X Adds US 'Trade' Button to Cashtags with Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini

Users can complete transactions directly at partner brokerages, while Kraken says any crypto cashtag can route to it and Gemini names five tokens.

X launched a U.S. Cashtag Partner Program on September 15, linking supported stock, ETF and cryptocurrency cashtags to several brokerages, including Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.

How the Trade Button Works

When a user taps a cashtag on X, a price chart and related posts are displayed. Selecting a participating brokerage redirects the user to that firm’s app or website, where they log in or create an account and complete the trade. X does not execute the order itself; it only facilitates the hand‑off to the brokerage.

Partner Coverage

  • Gemini supports stocks and five specific cryptocurrencies: ZEC, HYPE, BTC, ETH and SOL.
  • Kraken allows U.S. users to tap any crypto cashtag and route to Kraken, promoting access to more than 2,400 tokens in its catalog.
  • Coinbase is listed among the launch partners, enabling trades from supported cashtags.
  • Interactive Brokers lets users trade assets spotted on X through its platform.
  • Moomoo provides a path from stock conversations on X to the corresponding ticker on its app.

Asset Types Supported

The program works with "supported" cashtags for stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies. Specific crypto assets mentioned are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Zcash (ZEC) and HYPE.

User Experience

Existing brokerage customers can continue to their accounts, while new users are guided to sign‑up flows. The final transaction steps—account access, order entry and settlement—are handled entirely by the chosen brokerage.
