XRP Holds Near $1.36 Amid Record ETF Inflows

XRP price traded near $1.36 on Aug. 31 after falling roughly 7% over seven days, as fading momentum and leveraged position unwinding offset record weekly demand from U.S. spot exchange-traded funds.

XRP was trading around $1.36 on Aug. 31, down about 7% from roughly $1.48 a week earlier. The pullback followed a rapid recovery from an August low near $0.98 and a month‑long gain of more than 30%.

Technical outlook

The 4‑hour Supertrend indicator remains bullish at $1.341, providing immediate support just below the market price. A break below $1.34 could expose the next support zone around $1.28, while a close above $1.40 would improve the recovery setup and open a path toward $1.50.

Short‑term momentum remains weak, with the Awesome Oscillator showing a negative reading and its histogram staying below zero.

ETF inflows vs. market price

U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded net inflows of $110.49 million for the week ending Aug. 28, the strongest weekly result of 2026. After the inflow, the funds held about $1.44 billion in assets, bringing cumulative net inflows to roughly $1.66 billion.

Despite the inflows, XRP price failed to regain $1.40 before month‑end. Open interest in XRP futures, which had peaked at $2.73 billion earlier in August, declined alongside price, suggesting leveraged traders were unwinding positions rather than initiating new shorts.

Liquidity clusters

CoinGlass liquidation heatmaps show major liquidity concentrations near $1.35, $1.38, and between $1.44 and $1.50. The token was trading between the $1.35 and $1.38 clusters on Aug. 31. Losing the $1.35 level could shift price toward $1.33‑$1.30, while breaking above $1.40‑$1.42 may trigger short covering and a rebound.

Broader market signals

Daily Chaikin Money Flow stood at 0.09, staying above zero and indicating net buying pressure over the past 20 days. The daily Murrey Math pivot sits near $1.40; a recovery above this level would target $1.50 and the $1.60 resistance zone.

Additional considerations

Ripple’s monthly escrow release of 1 billion XRP is scheduled for Sept. 1, though historically a large portion is returned to escrow rather than entering the market immediately.

The U.S. Senate is expected to hold a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on Sept. 15. While not a final passage, the vote could influence sentiment toward U.S.-traded digital assets.
