    Russian power large Rosseti faces $14.2 million loss from unlawful crypto mining

    Russian power supplier Rosseti reportedly noticed a major monetary hit as a result of unlawful crypto mining in 2024, with losses amounting to roughly 1.3 billion rubles ($14.2 million).

    On Feb. 18, native media outlet Tass reported that Rosseti stated these losses stem from unauthorized electrical energy consumption throughout a number of areas, with the North Caucasus Grid alone accounting for 600 million rubles ($6.6 million).

    Further losses have been recorded in Novosibirsk, the Heart, and the Volga areas, totaling 520 million rubles ($5.7 million).

    Authorities found one of many largest unlawful mining operations in Novosibirsk, the place 3,200 mining gadgets have been confiscated. This single operation resulted in a monetary lack of 197 million rubles ($2.2 million).
