China Enterprise Journal says fraudsters impersonated the publication, demanding Bitcoin to suppress purported investigative reviews about focused firms.
China Enterprise Journal, a state-affiliated newspaper, has warned that fraudsters have been impersonating the publication to extort firms by demanding Bitcoin in trade for suppressing damaging reviews.
In an announcement issued Thursday, the newspaper stated scammers used a Proton Mail tackle to contact companies, falsely claiming that they had uncovered damaging info by undercover investigations and threatening to publish the fabric except paid in Bitcoin.
The publication stated the emails have been unauthorized and that the scheme appeared to represent fraud.
