A Washington state choose has ordered prediction market platform Kalshi to cease providing a broad vary of occasion contracts within the state, rejecting its argument that federal commodities legislation preempts Washington playing legislation.
King County Superior Courtroom Decide John McHale barred Kalshi from providing contracts tied to sports activities, elections, politics, leisure, tradition, tech and science, and “mentions.” Contracts involving commodities, local weather, economics and finance are exempt.
“We’re holding Kalshi accountable for operating an unlawful playing operation,” Washington Lawyer Normal Nick Brown stated Thursday on X, citing a latest courtroom ruling.
