$206 M in XRP Moved Between Uphold Wallets

A single 145,634,500 XRP transfer worth about $206 million left a labeled Uphold wallet on Sept. 14, but on‑chain data shows it was an internal custody reshuffle rather than a whale exit.

A 145,634,500 XRP transaction, valued at roughly $206 million, was sent from a wallet labeled “Uphold (4)” on Sept. 14. The move emptied the source address, leaving only a few dozen XRP behind.

What the on‑chain data reveals

XRPSCAN identified the sending address (rBEc94rUFfLfTDwwGN7rQGBHc883c2QHhx) as an Uphold‑controlled wallet. The receiving address (r3Mbwdryx6EZNzVFe2hJn1kPoLuAUx61Dk) had been created by Uphold on May 19, 2026, and remained inactive until the September transfer. A small 50‑XRP test payment was sent to the destination earlier on the same day, confirming the address was under Uphold’s control before the large transfer arrived.

Scale of Uphold’s XRP holdings

Uphold’s largest labeled XRP wallet holds about 1.47 billion XRP, placing the exchange among the top custodians of the asset. Historical on‑chain activity shows the exchange regularly moves large sums between its own addresses, including a 890 million XRP transfer in 2022 and multiple multi‑billion‑XRP shuffles in 2024.

Market reaction

Although internal transfers rarely indicate selling pressure, the timing coincided with a brief price rally—from roughly $1.34 to $1.49—before settling near $1.40. Spot XRP ETFs added $18.98 million in the week ending Sept. 11, suggesting that institutional flows through custodians are growing.
