Aave V4 Launches Equities Hub on Base, Allowing Tokenized US Stocks as USDC Collateral
Aave V4 on Base now accepts seven Coinbase‑issued tokenized U.S. equities as collateral for USDC loans, marking the first on‑chain use of tokenized stocks as borrowing assets.

Aave V4 on the Base network has introduced an Equities Hub that lets eligible users deposit tokenized U.S. stocks and borrow USDC against them. The launch supports seven major equities and uses Chainlink for price feeds.
Supported Tokenized Equities
- Apple (AAPL)
- Amazon (AMZN)
- Alphabet (GOOGL)
- Meta (META)
- Microsoft (MSFT)
- Nvidia (NVDA)
- Tesla (TSLA)
How the Collateral Works
Each token is issued by Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd. and represents a certificate linked to underlying shares held in segregated custody at Alpaca Securities. Holders receive economic exposure to the real equities, not a synthetic reference token.
At launch, the tokenized equities can only be supplied as collateral; they cannot be borrowed, and stock‑against‑stock borrowing is not permitted. USDC is the sole borrowable asset.
Pricing and Risk Management
Chainlink provides the market data used to value the collateral. The price feeds follow the extended U.S. equity market week rather than continuous 24/7 updates, creating a distinct risk profile for the lending protocol.
Aave has set initial risk limits on the amount of collateral and USDC that can enter the system. Future additions will be subject to governance and risk review.
Eligibility and Access
The tokenized stocks are Regulation S securities, available only to eligible non‑U.S. users in permitted jurisdictions. U.S. retail users cannot currently use this service.
Significance for DeFi
This launch moves tokenized equities beyond simple tradeable assets, allowing them to function as collateral similar to traditional brokerage margin borrowing. It demonstrates a step toward integrating on‑chain lending with conventional portfolio practices.
