BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust dominates daily inflows, eclipsing entire US Bitcoin ETF market

On Aug. 27, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) attracted $277.6 million, accounting for about 115 % of total US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows as rival funds recorded net outflows.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) pulled in $277.6 million on Aug. 27, outpacing the combined net inflow of all US spot Bitcoin exchange‑traded funds (ETFs), which totaled $242.3 million.

Daily inflow breakdown

IBIT’s $277.6 million represented roughly 115 % of the market’s net result for the day. The excess came from sizable redemptions in competing funds:

  • Fidelity’s FBTC saw an outflow of $83.6 million.
  • Grayscale’s GBTC recorded an outflow of $27.2 million.

These two funds together contributed $110.8 million of net outflows.

Smaller funds offset some pressure

Several smaller Bitcoin ETFs attracted inflows that partially mitigated the overall outflow pressure:

  • Bitwise’s BITB
  • ARK 21Shares’ ARKB
  • VanEck’s HODL
  • MSBT
  • Grayscale’s lower‑fee BTC fund

Collectively, these products drew $75.5 million, leaving the non‑IBIT segment with a net outflow of $35.3 million for the session.

Broader inflow streak and BlackRock’s share

The $242 million daily inflow extended the US Bitcoin ETF market’s positive streak to nine consecutive trading sessions. During this nine‑day period, the market has attracted about $3.05 billion, with IBIT contributing roughly $2.3 billion (≈75.6 %).

IBIT’s cumulative position

Since its launch in January 2024, IBIT has accumulated about $63 billion in net inflows and now manages roughly $62 billion in assets. By comparison, the broader US spot Bitcoin ETF market has generated about $54.8 billion in net inflows and holds approximately $100.9 billion in assets.

Factors behind IBIT’s dominance

IBIT’s rapid growth is attributed to its liquidity, trading volume, and BlackRock’s extensive distribution network. The fund became the fastest ETF to reach $50 billion in assets in roughly 11 months and later surpassed $70 billion after 341 trading days. Options on IBIT, launched in November 2024, have also become a major venue for Bitcoin options exposure, adding further liquidity.
