BNB dips as Binance begins migration of crypto balances

BNB fell 3.3% to around $761 after Binance announced the shift of crypto holdings from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts starting Sep. 29, ahead of a future Stocks Account rename.

BNB slipped 3.3% to roughly $761 on Sep. 23, even though the token remains up 7.4% over the past week. The price move coincided with Binance’s plan to migrate crypto balances from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts beginning Sep. 29.

Migration timeline and mechanics

Binance will start moving non‑stock assets from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts on Sep. 29. The process will continue through Jan. 2027, after which the former Funding Account will be renamed the Stocks Account and will be reserved for stock and stock‑options settlement.

User options

  • One‑click migration button in the latest iOS/Android app for early transfers.
  • Automatic batch transfers beginning Jan. 2027 for users who take no action.
  • All asset balances will remain unchanged and transaction history will retain the original Funding Account label.

Impact on BNB and settlement assets

BNB is one of six assets Binance will allow for stock and stock‑options settlement in the future Stocks Account. The other assets are USD, USDC, USDT, USD1 and U.

Related service changes

From Sep. 29, deposits and withdrawals will route through Spot Accounts. Services such as Pay, Card, Gift Card, Convert and P2P will also shift their fund flows to Spot, with specific guidance for recurring Convert orders and API references.

Trading volume

CoinGecko reported 24‑hour BNB trading volume at about $1.34 billion at the time of the announcement.
