Ark Invest Tokenizes $1.3 B Venture Fund on Ethereum

Ark Invest and Securitize are launching a tokenized version of the ARK Venture Fund on Ethereum, giving eligible investors an on‑chain representation of their interest in a portfolio that includes OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks.

Ark Invest announced that its ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX), valued at roughly $1.3 billion, will be issued as a token on the Ethereum blockchain through a partnership with Securitize. The tokenized fund provides eligible investors with a blockchain‑based representation of their ownership, while the underlying portfolio of private and public companies remains unchanged.

How the Tokenization Works

Securitize will handle the issuance and investor infrastructure for the ARKVX token, which will be minted on Ethereum. The token does not place the individual holdings—such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe or Databricks—on‑chain; instead, it represents a proportional interest in the fund that already owns those assets.

Fund Structure and Liquidity

ARKVX is an actively managed closed‑end interval fund launched in September 2022. Its target allocation is about 80 % private‑company equity and 20 % public‑company equity. Shares are not freely tradable; investors can redeem only during quarterly repurchase windows, with redemption amounts subject to proration.

Performance Highlights

  • Net asset value (NAV) rose from around $20 at launch to about $60.50 as of 23 September 2026, roughly a three‑fold increase.
  • Annual NAV returns were approximately 61 % in 2023, 7 % in 2024, 56 % in 2025, and 32 % year‑to‑date through September 2026.
  • The fund posted a 20.21 % return in Q2 2026, driven largely by holdings in companies such as SpaceX and Anthropic.
  • Net expense ratio is about 2.90 %.

Strategic Rationale

Cathie Wood, founder, CEO and CIO of Ark Invest, said the tokenization reflects the firm’s belief that blockchain technology can reshape how investors access private and public markets. Ark Invest previously invested in Securitize in October 2025, and the current collaboration turns that strategic relationship into an operational product.
