Chainlink adds price feeds for Coinbase tokenized stocks on Base

Chainlink has introduced price feeds for four Coinbase tokenized stocks on Base, giving DeFi protocols the data needed to assess NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc, and GOOGLc as collateral.

Chainlink announced that its Data Feeds now provide continuous valuations for four Coinbase‑issued tokenized stocks on the Base layer‑2 network. The feeds enable DeFi lending protocols to use the tokens as collateral and to manage borrowing limits, loan health, and liquidations.

Supported tokenized stocks

The first assets covered are tokenized representations of Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Alphabet, identified by the tickers NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc and GOOGLc. Each token follows the B20 standard, which ties the on‑chain token to a U.S.‑listed share held in a regulated custody account.

How the feeds work

Chainlink’s V3 aggregator reports the total‑return value of each B20 token, combining the underlying share price with a multiplier from Coinbase’s on‑chain oracle registry. The multiplier adjusts for corporate actions such as dividend reinvestment and changes in the equity‑per‑token ratio.

Use in lending markets

DeFi protocols on Base—including Aave, Morpho and Euler—can read the feed values to determine how much a borrower may receive against deposited stock tokens and to trigger liquidations when collateral value falls. Protocols remain responsible for setting their own risk parameters and for verifying token contract addresses.

Oracle coverage and risks

Chainlink supplies 24‑hour coverage from Monday to Friday by blending regular‑session, extended‑hours and overnight data. Coverage is strongest during U.S. market hours; overnight updates are less frequent, and values remain unchanged on weekends. The feeds apply session‑aware smoothing, which can dampen short spikes but may introduce lag during rapid moves. Developers are advised to implement safeguards and monitor Base’s sequencer status.

Regulatory and access restrictions

Although the tokens represent U.S. equities, they are offered only to non‑U.S. investors under Regulation S. U.S. persons cannot purchase, hold or redeem the B20 tokens, and related DeFi services are also unavailable to them.

Redemption mechanics

Verified holders may redeem tokens for the underlying share, U.S. dollars or a stablecoin such as USDC, subject to a 0.05 % fee and compliance checks. Tokens acquired through DeFi without completing Coinbase’s KYC/AML process remain unvested and cannot be redeemed or exercised holder rights.
