Circle expands CCTP to EURC and cirBTC on Arc

Circle expanded CCTP on Arc beyond USDC to support EURC and cirBTC, while Gateway plans multi-asset unified balances and more asset coverage.

Circle has broadened its Cross‑Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on the Arc network to include native EURC and cirBTC transfers, adding to the existing USDC support. The move is part of a wider effort to enable multi‑asset workflows through Circle’s Gateway and Bridge Kit products.

New asset routes on Arc

EURC can now move via CCTP across Arc, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum and World Chain. cirBTC support currently links Arc and Ethereum, with additional routes planned.

Gateway’s current capabilities

Gateway presently unifies USDC balances on Arc and Ethereum. Support for EURC and cirBTC is listed as “coming soon,” and no launch dates have been disclosed.

How CCTP works

CCTP uses a burn‑and‑mint model for Circle‑issued assets, burning tokens on the source chain and minting native equivalents on the destination chain. This avoids reliance on liquidity pools typical of many bridge designs. Fast Transfer fees can be prepaid, and developers can quote cross‑chain fees on the source network.

Performance and fees

Circle advertises sub‑10‑second transfer times on supported Arc routes, though actual times and fees depend on the chosen chain, route and network conditions. Pricing varies by asset and route, and no single universal fee has been published for USDC, EURC, or cirBTC.

Support for third‑party tokens

Arc’s interoperability stack also accommodates third‑party assets through a Crosschain Token Standard (CTS), allowing custom controls such as allowlists and pausing. These tokens use a lock‑and‑mint approach rather than the native burn‑and‑mint flow used for Circle‑issued assets.

Additional developments on Arc

Since its public launch on September 16, Arc has added cirBTC (Sept 21), StableFX (Sept 22) and the integrated Interop product (Sept 23). The network operates with USDC for gas fees, deterministic sub‑second finality, and a permissioned validator set that includes major institutions.
