Circle Introduces 24/7 Stablecoin FX Engine on Arc
Circle’s new StableFX service enables screened businesses to request quotes from multiple liquidity providers and settle stablecoin trades on a 24‑hour basis, aiming to capture a portion of the near $10 trillion daily FX market.

Circle has launched StableFX, a 24‑hour foreign‑exchange settlement service on its Arc blockchain, targeting the global FX market that moves close to $10 trillion each day.
How StableFX Works
Businesses submit a request‑for‑quote that includes the currency pair, amount, and preferred settlement window. Approved liquidity providers compete for the order. Execution occurs off‑chain, after which counterparties fund a smart‑contract escrow on Arc. Settlement is performed on a payment‑versus‑payment basis, meaning both stablecoin legs are transferred together or not at all, reducing settlement risk.
Operational Benefits
The service lets firms settle trades instantly or defer settlement to a chosen window, extending FX activity beyond traditional banking hours. This can help payment companies rebalance stablecoin liquidity overnight or over weekends, and gives corporate treasuries flexibility to align settlement with funding schedules.
Asset Coverage and Access
Circle’s developer documentation lists USDC and the euro‑denominated EURC as supported tokens, with examples of exchanges between the two. Additional local stablecoin pairs are planned, though a full list has not been disclosed. Access to StableFX is limited to screened, incorporated businesses such as payment firms, financial institutions, and corporate treasury desks; retail traders are excluded.
Post‑Settlement Considerations
While StableFX settles digital stablecoins, it does not automatically convert them into fiat cash in a recipient’s bank account. Firms must maintain separate arrangements for deposits, redemptions, custody, and local payout infrastructure. Circle’s Mint service can provide USDC and EURC liquidity and fiat conversion in supported markets, but this does not extend to stablecoins issued by other companies.
