Coinbase partners with Stablecore to embed crypto services in over 3,000 U.S. banks and credit unions
Coinbase and Stablecore will enable community banks and credit unions to offer crypto trading, custody, staking and stablecoin payments through existing banking platforms.

Coinbase announced a partnership with Stablecore that aims to integrate crypto trading, custody, staking and stablecoin payment capabilities into the technology stacks of more than 3,000 U.S. banks and credit unions.
How the integration works
Stablecore provides a white‑label orchestration layer that connects Coinbase’s regulated custody and exchange infrastructure with each institution’s core banking, digital‑banking and compliance systems. The solution allows banks to retain their branding while offering digital‑asset products without replacing existing platforms.
Early participants
Amarillo National Bank in Texas is cited as an early institution testing the integration. The bank’s president highlighted customer demand for emerging payment methods while emphasizing the need for visibility across both traditional and digital‑asset activity.
Regulatory backdrop
U.S. banking regulators have clarified that national banks and federal savings associations may provide crypto custody and execute customer‑directed trades, and they may outsource permissible crypto activities to third‑party providers such as Coinbase, provided appropriate risk controls are in place. Recent OCC guidance removed the requirement for a supervisory non‑objection for certain crypto activities, and the Federal Reserve now treats crypto services under its regular supervisory process.
Related initiatives
Coinbase recently announced a separate partnership with Moov to bring stablecoin acceptance and merchant settlement to a network of more than 1,000 community banks and credit unions. The Stablecore collaboration focuses on a broader set of services, including trading, custody, staking and integration with compliance tools.
Future rollout
Stablecore’s integration with Verafin compliance infrastructure is in beta, with a wider rollout to mutual customers expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 and early 2027. Details such as supported stablecoins, blockchain networks, fees, staking terms and customer launch dates have not been disclosed.
