Coinbase Launches Tokenized U.S. Stocks on Base for Eligible Non‑U.S. Users

Coinbase has issued 1:1‑backed tokenized shares of Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet on the Base network, available to eligible investors outside the United States. The tokens use the B20 standard and rely on Chainlink oracles for continuous pricing.

Coinbase announced that eligible non‑U.S. investors can now trade tokenized shares of major U.S. companies on the Base blockchain. The tokens, issued under the B20 standard, are fully backed by underlying shares held in a regulated, bankruptcy‑remote custodian.

Supported Stocks and Token Mechanics

The initial offering includes fractional tokens representing Apple Inc. (AAPL), Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), Meta Platforms Inc. (META) and Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL). Each B20 token represents a claim on a single share held in custody, and token holders can store the assets in self‑custody wallets or move them across Base‑compatible applications.

Continuous Market Data via Chainlink

Chainlink provides real‑time price feeds for the tokenized stocks, enabling decentralized exchanges, lending platforms and structured‑product protocols to price, collateralize and settle trades outside traditional market hours. Coinbase selected Chainlink as its official oracle for the AAPLc, GOOGLc, METAc and NVDAc tokens.

Regulatory Framework

The tokens are offered under Regulation S and are not available to U.S. persons or other restricted jurisdictions. Coinbase obtained permission from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Abu Dhabi Global Market, which allows the company to arrange tokenized‑securities transactions and provide custody services.

DeFi Integration and Future Plans

Once minted, the B20 tokens can be used on Base‑based decentralized exchanges, lending protocols and other DeFi applications. Dividends, stock splits and other corporate actions are reflected on‑chain through a multiplier mechanism. Coinbase indicated that additional tokenized equities will be added in the coming weeks.
